TT Badger Red Buck

AQHA 2017 Golden Buckskin Gelding.

We bought George from his breeder as a weanling. He was our first pick out of 20+ head of colts, he was a stand-out even at that age. George has great hooves for going barefoot, deep soles & strong sidewalls. he is very sound. We can catch George up even after time off, saddle him & head out. George happily rides out alone away from the other horses.

Alice (6yrs. old has ridden George for a year. Alice rides him anywhere on our ranch, and does everything on him. If you're needing an all around horse, is athletic enough to do some advanced riding/or competition, yet is still gentle, will take care of any level rider, and is very pretty, please come meet & ride George.

Frequently Asked Questions about George

1What is his riding history?
We started George when he was 2 1/2 years old.  We started riding him on cattle the 3rd outside ride.  From the first time I checked  pasture on him, it was evident he had a lot of cow, and was definitely born to work.  I started day working with a hand full of rides on him.  At 17 rides I had a rancher I was helping ask how old, & how long he had been ridden, no one could believe he was just a started colt.  George was out most of his 3 year old year due to moving, I rode him 2 weeks the spring of his 4 year old year, then was laid off the summer due to a minor cut. Anne picked him up again in the fall when he was 4 1/2 and he went right on where he left off the spring of his 4 year old year. George is soft, athletic enough to fill about any discipline, quiet, but not lazy.  He can be caught out in the pasture in a bunch of horses without treats, then ridden home in a halter bareback.  Alice has worked cattle in the corrals, driven cattle on long trail drives, helped synchronized cows for A I, worked colts in the round pen, you name it.  George does the teeter totter, gates, crosses the river, bridges, walks  on two bridge planks 34' long, is good with tarps etc., and he loves attention, you can't pet and brush him too much.  George takes good care of Alice. Anne loves George.  He is the easiest horse to teach lead changes, half passes etc to she has ever trained.  Anne likes to round pen colts in an 80' round pen horseback, and George is her go to horse when she has a horse that doesn't want to work well in the round pen.  It is exciting to see him work a difficult colt, George can have their respect in a couple minutes.  Anne says all you have to do is hang on and let George do his thing, & have a ride that is a real RUSH!!! George drug his 1st calves to the fire this spring.  The first calf he drug, it was like he had drug hundreds.  The ground crew, other ropers, branding fire, nothing bothered him.  Curt has had 3 shoulder surgeries and can't rope any more, Isaac Slaybaugh was up, and he thought George was one of the best drag horses he had ever ridden.. The other ropers told me he had done an exceptional job for his first time in the pen;.  I was running Irons. The next day we helped an elderly neighbor brand his calves.  His daughter didn't have a horse to drag calves on, so we loaned her George, our saddle, and she borrowed her brothers rope, George did an excellent job.  After the branding a young mother took her 2 yr. old daughter for a ride, and her 8 yr. old daughter rode George most of the afternoon around the place.
2Other things we should mention?
.

Sometimes it is hard to remember to list everything a good horse does, If I forget to include something please ask!!.

.

George is safe to work around on the ground even for little kids. Alice fly sprays him. He is good about baths, he loads himself in the trailer, tie him anywhere with a rein and leave him. .

.

He is my best help starting colts int he round pen and of course has done a lot of ponying . I can lead horses off both sides at one time.

3Is he safe for a beginner?

I would say "Yes, with knowledgeable supervision". He would be one of my picks to use if I was working with a rider wanting to learn. I would not choose him for a rider who did not have balance enough not to be heavy handed. If you needed to work with a rider like this I would put George in a web halter & work on lightening the riders hands. Alice (who is 6yr old) rides him all over the place including bareback around the corrals whenever she wants. She rides him to work cattle & we don't have to worry about where she is in the big group of riders.

4Why is George for sale?

We bought him as a weanling & he is now a seasoned well trained gelding ready to be someones best horse.

In addition to running cattle on our land, we raise horses. We have young horses coming up that need time & training so we are offering George for sale to go on & be a dependable mount for some special person or family. Many years go into training a seasoned ranch horse. We are very proud of George.

5Why an auction?

Investing in the future: To promote the ranch horses we raise & train on our ranch, we need to get out of our area so folks looking for dependable, steady minded, truly broke horses know where we live!

We took a home raised gelding "Jake" to the Cowgirl Cadillac sale in Arizona, were he tied for second high seller. The family who didn't win Jake then came to our ranch & bought Copper. Than when we sold Spark at the Premier Horse Sale (Reno Az) the same family bought him for the wife. Spark was top 5 in that sale. We do plan to offer a few horses off the ranch, so ask us what we have or might know of

People remember meeting Jake & Spark at the sales & how nice they were !

Last fall we sold "Prince' on Platinum online sale & again he was in the top horses for the year. The family who bought him then bought Red Man, and then came to us for a third this spring when they bought Frosty. We have many photos and videos of how well they are doing.

6Looking for A good example of how level headed George is?

We were all three out filming & Alice was riding George with her new yellow riding slicker that we had just ordered. She had stopped him, untied the slicker from her saddle put it on & then continued riding. But she hadn't zipped or snapped it since it wasn't raining. She decided to trot George out of the trees and trot a couple of circles out in the open, then she stopped him and went to slide off like she always dismounts. However as she did so the one side of the open slicker caught over the saddle horn & she was partly hanging with her toes touching the ground. I started running over, but before I got there she lifted her arms up and slid out of it, knocking her helmet off. George never moved. Things in life happen, you need a horse that trusts you
