Prince

2010 AQHA Palomino Gelding

Prince sold on Platinum Equine sales site for $50,000, Oct 2022. Afterward the family also purchased Red Man. Then this spring the bought Frosty from us so the whole family could go riding. I have a lot of photos and video from them that I need to add here

Prince is the horse we allowed Alice ride by herself, when she had just turned 3 yrs old. He has been the perfect mount for her, he has an excellent walk that will keep up with the best walker we own. He is the first big horse she learned to lope on & he is not bothered being left by himself, so when we are working cattle & have to take off after one you can ride off out of site & he and Alice can come along at her pace. Many times I have had to take off after a pair & I know Alice & Prince are fine even with no other horses in site.

When Alice started riding him at 3 yrs old she rode him for most of the long rides we went on. This was the main reason I decided our pony Oreo would be best off going to a home where he could be a beginners pony & not be asked to travel any distance. Prince was excellent for teaching Alice to neck rein, he is very soft to the rein and patient when she didn't have her reins the correct length. "

This year Alice is 5 yrs old & Prince is one of the horses she has learned to use a bit with. Her Dad & I watch the videos taken when she was 3 & it is amazing how fast children grow & how fast they learn. An old cowboy told Curt "if you put your kids on good horses on the start, they will always make & ride good horses".

Frequently Asked Questions about PRINCE

1Is he safe for a beginner?

Prince was the first horse Alice ride independently when she had just turned 3yrs old. I had spent a lot of time when she was 2yrs old with her riding in front of me, so she knew the basics of go, whoa & turn. She has ridden him the 4 miles over to work cattle & back when she was only 4yrs & we don't have to worry about where she is in the big group of riders that are at the brandings & workings.

2Looking for A good example of how level headed Prince is?

The example I can think of this summer is when we were bringing in all the horses from a 400 acre pasture, Curt & I were each ponying the older geldings & there were 5 head of youngsters that stayed eating. I asked Alice to go back behind them & get them to walk after us. As soon as she was behind them they took off at a high gallop, running passed Curt & I & over the hill, Prince didn't pay any attention at all. That is a time I wished I had had a camcorder with me!

Day in and day out Prince never seems to mind things other horses would have an issue with.

3Why is Prince for sale?

Prince wouldn't be for sale except, for awhile as least we have Red Man, & then we have a little mare who is going to be able to step up & take care of Alice. And in the future a mare will raise babies for us. So being a gelding, we are offering Prince to another special family

In addition to running cattle on our land, we raise horses with dispositions to be family horses. We have young horses coming up that need time & training so we are offering Prince for sale to go on & be a dependable mount for some special family. Many years go into training a seasoned ranch horse. We are very proud of Prince.

4Why an auction?

Investing in the future: To promote the ranch horses we raise & train on our ranch, we need to get out of our area so folks looking for dependable, steady minded, truly broke horses know where we live! We took one of our geldings "Jake" to a high end sale in Arizona, it was totally worth the trip. This is our first Quarterhorse we have sold working with an online Sale Company. We want to find a company who is honest & works hard to keep that reputation. We do plan to offer a few horses off the ranch, but in general I think it is worth the effort to take your very best individuals to an auction format since people have a tendency to think all broke horses should be priced the same.

Sales are a lot of work but the promotion is worth it.
