Blackberry is a dependable, cool headed no nonsense gelding. He is a top pick to if there is a job to be done, you can lope him right off from the barn, he has smooth to ride gaits & he is a good worker. Gentle but not lazy, he will willing crawl up the 220 ft soft sand hill behind our house then hit a soft, smooth, slow lope to travel out to our far pastures. He is my choice if there are loose horses to move as he keeps a cool head even if the whole herd takes off at a gallop out of site. Yesterday I was leading a mare in season towards home when the entire broodmare band decided to catch up to us then go galloping past us & over the hill to water, Blackberry didn't even look twice. We bought blackberry at a couple of weeks old with his mother on the Roger Voss estate dispersion. We have a 3/4+ sister by pedigree in our broodmare band who Curt says was one of the easiest colts he ever started. I did Blackberry's ground work & 2 rides when he was a 2 yr old, then at three (after 1 session in the round pen with the young man who puts the first ride on our colts,) I went on with him. Curt put a lot of long slow rides on him the summer of 2025 along with regular ranch day work. Blackberry is a gelding everyone in the family can ride. He is finishing out to be a solid & dependable horse, gentle in any kind of weather & the same horse with time off. Blackberry has never bucked, good walk, very smooth lope.
